Service Strength Success
Catherine Wiersch believes the justice system should go beyond routine punishments to deliver outcomes that are fair, effective, and contribute to safer communities. Through her work as Chief Deputy at the Clark County Public Defender’s Office, she has seen how practical, balanced approaches can strengthen both individual lives and public safety. Her approach is guided by three principles: Service, Strength, and Success.
Service to the Community
-
Treat every individual before the court with fairness and impartiality, regardless of background or circumstances.
-
Build upon the Henderson Municipal Court’s legacy of diversion courts to expand access to justice.
-
Promote community engagement that builds trust and understanding between residents and the justice system.
Strength Through Accountability
-
Consider alternatives to incarceration when they improve outcomes and reduce repeat offenses, particularly in cases involving mental health or addiction.
-
Support early intervention programs that address root causes and help prevent crime.
-
Ensure every resolution contributes to the safety and well-being of neighborhoods.
Success Through Justice
-
Uphold constitutional rights and the rule of law in every case.
-
Ensure transparency, fairness, and due process in courtroom proceedings.
-
Support approaches that reduce recidivism and encourage rehabilitation, where appropriate.
